Anesthesiology and intensive care devices
EditAnesthesiology is the branch of clinical medicine studying problems of anesthesia, management of vital functions of the body during, as well as before and after surgical procedures.
Depending on the type of anesthesia there are:
- Inhalation anesthesia – administration of the medications through airways. Depending on the way of gas administration there are: mask, endotracheal and endobronchial narcosis. Depending on what happens during narcosis with patient’s breathing, there is narcosis with spontaneous (autonomous) breathing and artificial respiration.The second variant usually presupposes trachea intubation (after patient falls asleep, special tube is administered into his airways) or other methods of air management are applied. Oxygen or gas mixtures are administered into lungs of the patient with the help of ICU or special bag.
- Parenteral (intravenous, intravenous with ICU, intramuscular narcosis) anesthesia;
- Combined anesthesia (anesthesia is achieved by means of applying different narcotic substances and ways of their administration).
